Saving as lower version

Unfortunately, what you are asking is not possible. If you have a version 5 report, you can only save it as a version 5 report or open in a later version and save it, but you cannot open or save it in a lower version like 4.6
This is something that seagate has with all versions except for version 8, which can be saved as a version 7, but that's it.

Does v8 only save as v8 or v7, or can it also save as v6 ? I am using software that uses v6 reports; when I made cosmetic modifications to the reports and saved them from v7 they crashed. I'd be prepared to upgrade to v8 if it does save as v6, otherwise not.

One thing I would note about saving a version 8 report as a version 7 report is that if you use any features that are specific to version 8 and not available in version 7, then your report will loose this functionality in the report ie basic syntax for formulas.

I am not sure that I understand exactly what you are wanting to do. If you have version 7 and you are wanting to have the reports updated to version 7, then you need only to open the reports in version 7 and then save them. If you are wanting to open, make changes to and to resave the reports as version 6 reports, then you would need to contact Crystal Decisions and talk to them on getting version 6.
