I have a bizarre one.

We have a backup running during the day that runs on the hour, every hour.

During the day this backup takes longer & longer to finish. It just completed and took 3 minutes, at night it runs for 2-3 hours (always a full backup)

Should I look to run an incr every second hour?

Don't know about the differences - we need to know more about the configuration and the real data to investigate this. It could just be that you are running out of resources (for example, the number of streams) and processes must be queued.

However, this is for sure: If NW can not find a full in the media index, it must start with a new full.

If this repeats, i guess the media index is corrupt and you need to repair/recover it.

Actually on second looks 605 this appears to be a problem with an inaccessible jukebox (which was previously accessible)

It has gone into service mode. When enabled, it will mount a tape but then states that the tape in the drive is NULL, even though it is labelled.

When I unmount the tape I need to inventory the slot again.

Running
mt –f /dev/rmt/1cbn status

returns "Device Busy
