save pics causes IE6 to close...

Hi, when I try and save a picture in IE it closes...
ne1 else had this? also try to delete temp files and it crashes...
installed full updates but not tried IE re-install
ne ideas?
full norton scan done

Use the Disk Cleanup manager to remove the Temorary Internet Files. Your IE problems could well stem from issues with the TIF files and folder:

thanx for idea but still get prob
looked at some of yur posts earlier specially guy with
Tsk manager prob [thread779-647594]
- so have tried spybot, adaware and done housecall scan
gotta re-install IE ?

Two other thoughts:

1. Use the advice in this link to remove the Temporary Internet Folder itself. There may be corruption in the index files:

2. Do a chkdsk /r. I am concerned that there may be some underlying hard disk issues.

...tried yur suggestions still same- chkdsk came back ok,

found out it is saving images from Anything (not just IE)to My Pictures that causes the open app to close

will save elsewhere

There was this type of fault in ME caused by TweakUI.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.
