W2K is booting in Save Mode. If I run setup.exe from 2K OS disk will I lose all my data folder on c:\? I'm not concern about losing applications. The problem is that I don't have another drive to back some folder which store data on c:\.

I stated have problem after download MS new antspware. I uninstalled it, but system still boot in save mode.

Hi Jamin123,
If you re-install Win2k then you will lose all of your data if you format the c: partition.
there are a number of solutions for you.
1. Re-install sp4 for win2k. This might repair any damaged files from your install and save you from the below steps.
1. You could get some partition utility software and partition a portion of you drive off be for you re-install. I don’t know if the software will work in safe mode though.
2. Run a repair with your windows 2000 cd. This might fix any problems you have created.
3. Buy a second hard drive (£40 for a modest one) and copy the data onto this before re-installing.
4. Buy a removable media device (CD-RW) for £30 and do the same as above.
5. You could get some partition utility software and partition a portion of you drive off be for you re-install. I don’t know if the software will work in safe mode though.

Thanks. I did re-service pack, but that didn't help. If I reinstalled with formating the drive I may not lose the data, I think.

Hi jamin123,
If you format the partition and it is the only partition on you machine you WILL lose ALL data and the drive.
Cheers.
