Hi all, I have few questions on SAN Backup and needed some expertise advices.

Firstly there are some servers already in the SAN Enivronment.Currently my Backup Media Server is in LAN, backing up all servers in LAN and SAN.

I believe I can have my Backup Media Server, with HBA Card installed, in the SAN connecting to the SAN Fabric Switch.
But I not sure whether the Tape Library/Autoloader can be connected direct to the SAN switch instead using the SCSI Cable connecting to my Backup Media Server.

If possible, do I need SSO on all servers or only on the Backup Media Server.

And which way of backup solution is the best? Using the LAN backup or SAN Backup?

Please kindly advice.

Million of Thanks

connecting the library by fibre is dependant on the library that you are using....if only scsi then you could get a bridge to attach it to the san if you want the data to go directly to tape.
Or you could just directly scsi attach the library to the san attached Media Server which would still keep the data being backed up within the san.

SSO only needs to be installed on the Media Server

Personaly I would say that keeping the data within the SAN is best instead of it traveling across your LAN.
