on another computer of mine i have found out that my CD burner has stopped working, my computer says its fine, but it wont read or write anything.. if someone could help me please do.

Assuming that
1. you havent made any changes to the cabling inside your case,
2. and it was working previously,
3. and now it no longer works
then it has probably just died - return it if you can. Also CD-burners have a shorter life than std CD-ROMS. If it is older than 2 years it may have just worn out.
