Hey,
I'm running SMS 2.0 SP3 on a Windows NT 4.0 (SP6a) server. On the same server I have SQL 7.0 SP3 running dedicated for SMS.
I've noticed, on about 5% of my records, that I can see different NETBIOS names listed. This is how I can tell that there are two different netbios names listed for the same SMS GUID:
1) I open the SMS administrator and find a resource under COLLECTIONS. I then simply double click on one of the records. I note the NETBIOS NAME. For example, netbios name = bill for GUID xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
2) I right click on the record and choose RESOURCE EXPLORER. I then drill down for both SYSTEM and/or COMPUTER SYSTEM. The netbios name listed here is different? But the SMs GUID number is same?
I don't understand why this happens? Any ideas? This is only happening for about 5% of the records...
Thanks in advance... Joseph L. Poandl
