Hi,

I'm currently running a Windows 2000/2003 Domain using Microsoft Windows 2003 as the DCs.

I'd like to utilise Samba as BDC's at all of my remote sites over WAN links.

What I need to know is if there is a way of making Samba 3 a BDC to an existing Windows 2000 domain.
I'm not bothered whether I use NTLM methods or LDAP to achieve this conumdrum, just looking for a working solution.

Account management would be carried out on the central Windows 2003 DCs and not at the Samba end so Delta files are not an issue.

As long as the remote users can use their local Samba BDC domain controller to authenticate and not run all the way over the WAN links to head office Windows DCs then I'm happy. The BDC implementation is purely to save on bandwidth, otherwise I'd simply set the server to become a domain member.........

I'm using Windows 2000 mixed mode.

All the documentation I see refers to using open LDAP on a Samba PDC and hanging the Samba BDC's off the Samba PDC - can't find anything on hanging a Samba BDC off an existing live Windows network.

Best Regards

Phil Blythe

p.s. I can't ditch the Windows 2003 DCs in favour of Linux unfortunately - too much infrastructure already running on Windows :-(
