I have set up a Linux box (Corel v1) as a server and the samba server is working fine, but I cann't make nt join the domain it says the domain controller is not accept the connection or the user / password is wrong. Do I have to put the computer names in to the samba config file for the nt boxes to connect?
Simon Jones
sijones_uk@yahoo.com
<a href= Allandale Youth Works
God am good!!! and good lookin :-)

Try doing it the other way around - make the Samba server join the NT domain. This should work a little better. I suspect what is happening is that the NT box is trying to authenticate itself against the Samba server, and this might not be set up correctly.
Also, although the plan is for Samba to provide NT style authentication, I'm not sure if it's all the way there, yet. Check your local Samba mirror for details. (Start from, I think, <A HREF=" TARGET="_new">

It sounds like NT is being Egotistical again and doesn't to be authenticated on the unix network.
I am wondering if you have the NT server set up to be a primary domain controller or just a regular NT server????

There's no NT server, I wanted Samba to do the works, and be the server for the workstations. But I didn't realise that samba couldn't do it all!!!
All well back to the drawing board. I haven't got the money to buy the server version you see.
