I have an XP pro laptop that is in my company's domain. I have a home linux server that runs samba in a workgroup of a different name. I'd like to map drive on the linux box while at home but it will not let me. Every attempt is met with the ever elusive 'system error 53'.

My Samba is running in security = server and I try mapping with
net use p: \\linuxserver\public /user:greg mylinuxpasswd

Some things I've checked
linuxserver is defined in my Xp lmhosts file and lmhosts is enabled. netbios over tcp is enabled. I can ping the server. Other PCs on my home net can access the linux server(in same workgroup).

Any thoughts or faq references would be appreciated. Thanks
