I am struggling to connect to my IRIX SAMBA shares from XP Home and WIN2000 clients.

My GLOBALS have set secrurity to: SHARE
and Encrypt passwords to: NO

The share itself has Guest OK: NO
and Valid User: 'myuser'

'myuser' is a valid account on the IRIX machine.

In /usr/samba/bin I have run the line:
smbdpasswd -a myuser

and given it the same password as under the IRIX spec.

In Windows, I can click on my share (it is displayed) and further I have tried connecting using:

\\myserver\myshare

It immidately prompts for a username and password but refuses to connect (incorrect password or unknown username).

Any ideas?

Here's the problem - Encrypt passwords to: NO

Every windows OS except 95 uses encrypted password. Set this to yes.
