I have installed Samba on AIX 5.2-ML04 and cannot get it to start. This is the message when I run testparm. I have downloaded and installed the 64 bit version and the latest rpm.rte. Anyone have any ideas or good docs on what to do next?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
Which Samba version are you trying to install and where did you download it?
I got some Samba 3.0.4 installations running fine on same OSlevel as you.
You may download as bff from Bull Open Software archive for AIX and install via smitty.

You need to install the popt package.
(It's also required for things like rsync)
The RPM can be found on the AIX Linux Toolbox
Package name: popt-1.7-1.aix4.3.ppc.rpm
