I plugged in a Compact Flash card that contains my S8700 back up into a USB Compact Flash Card reader on a PC and I was not able to see any of the backup files. The reader tells me the disk is not formatted and wants to format it.

I was hoping that I could email the results of the daily backup to my PC and then forward those emails off-site and then copy the files to a CF writer for DR purposes.

Any ideas why I could not see the backup files ?

because it's in linux. Your windows PC will not "see" the files or the card/drive partition for that matter.

That's what I was afraid of. I suppose I would be better off to FTP the backups to a server.

or have an FTP Server app on your PC and tell the S8700 to ftp the files to it across the LAN. i've done it before upgrades at customers' locations, just to have a secure copy of the S8700 files.
