We are looking to upgrade a 3si to the S8500 platform. We will be installing g650's in 4 different locations and connecting them back to the S8500 via fiber. I would like to know the required hardware at each of the 4 locations to interface the g650's with the fiber? I would also like to know what the interfaces will be from the incoming fiber to the S8500 at the central location, There will also be a g650 at the S8500 locations for local dial tone and interfacing with PSTN circuits.

tarheel25,

no way to do this on s8500. si can be upgraded to s8500 having direct connect configuration via fiber but it does only support 3 epns and no more. you need to upgrade to s8700 multi connect with center stage switch, this way you can have more than three fiber locations.
as for configuration, better consult some reputable vendor. don't try to do it yourself, you'll get a pack of problems and headache.

A heads up. The centre stage is no longer. It has been announced as END of SALE this June and will only be supported for 3 years. You need to install IP Connected systems which will work with the S8500. How far apart will the G650s be located? With the new environment all you need to connect them is ethernet although I would suggest at a minimum their own vlan, better yet if possible their own private LAN to connect the Crossfire boards.

The g650's will be no greater than 300-500 meters away from the location of the s8500.
