We are trying to ascertain if it is possible to do the following for one extension without breaching the security for our entire phone system.

This is an Definity S8400 system.

We would like to have incoming calls be answered by the receptionist, she can then transfer certain calls to an extension which will ring a coverage answer group four times, and if not answered, will then forward to an external number for another company's call center to answer.

Is this possible to do in the S8400 without causing other security headaches?

I set up an extension with all calls forwarded. When we transfer calls to this it works and they go to the call center.

I then setup a coverage path ringing c2 four times and then the extension for transferring. The c2 rings four times but then rings back to the receptionist. When I make the extension the first in the cov path I just get a busy signal.

Can someone tell me what I am missing here? I would really like to get this to work. The extension has a COR of 1 which seems fairly open.

You need to use a coverage remote,

do command "ch cov rem 1" and remember what position you put the number in, for example position 3

set the number in here for the external call centre (remember the 0 or 9 for an outside line, whatever you use)

Now create a coverage path and set the 2nd point as R3 (or R4 or R5 etc. depending on what posiiton in the "ch cov rem 1" screen you put the number.

Now on the station the calls are transferred to put this coverage path on.

Now set this station to SEND ALL CALLS, use the feature access code if you are using an x-port or virtual station.
