S8300E CM 8 standalone system, we need WebLM ?

Hello,

Our customer has S8300D/G450 with CM 5.2.1 as standalone system and he want to upgrade to the CM 8

For the hardware, we think to only replace the S8300D by S8300E to support CM 8

My question, can the S8300E be standalone with CM 8 software like S8300D without need of any additional server ? (like WebLM)

You can't buy just CM.
You can buy Aura Core user licenses that include a PBX phone, VM mbx, SIP stuff, etc.
You'll have entitlements for a bunch of servers and stuff.

Nothing stops you from deploying just a CM VM and a WebLM VM and having a plain old TDM/H323 PBX.
Now, there's probably no way around paying for maintenance on 'aura core' licenses - so regardless of what you install, you're probably paying for support on the bits you won't be using.

Thanks for your reply, what I mean, do I need to deploy WebLM VM within S8300E (co-resident with CM, US and BSM..etc) or it must be deployed on a seperate server ?

SDM probably doesn't 'support' it, though you could probably just go into vsphere and deploy it anyway. If you'll have no SM/SMGR, you won't have any purpose for the BSM anyway so you'd save that compute.

A S8300 for CM as standalone in R6 didn't have BSM on the S8300 blade. That's what they called CM Embedded. If you installed survivable remote embedded, that's when you got the BSM included because you'd have no use for BSM if you happened to want to build a S8300 G450 TDM system.
