Hi,

I'm having trouble with my S8300. It schould be connected to a 10/100mb hub which is set to auto sense. With the S8300 also set to auto sense this causes the hub not to recognize the S8300 (or vice versa). It now only works on a 10/100mb switch which is set to automatically go to 100mb after a negotiating time-out, which is why the switch works and the hubs don't. I'm figuring out how to set the S8300 to fixed 100mb speed but no luck so far...
Any ideas?
Make my day boys (and gals ofcourse)!

Thanks in advance!

Kind Regards,
Maarten Copini

There are commands in the G700 P330 CLI that would set the speed/duplex of the 2 ethernet ports of the G700.

Another way is to open Internet Explorer and type the IP address of the P330 processor (You need Java plug-in). You will see a grafical interface of the G700 and you will be able to select the 2 ports and set them to 100MB.

Note that Avaya advises NOT to change the port settings...

Do it at your own risk...

Where doI find the G700 P330 IP-address and or how do I get to the G700 command line interface??

If the S8300/G700 is already installed and administered then login to MultiVantage, do a ' list media-gateway' and you will see the IP Address of the MGP. Telnet to that IP address, type 'session stack' (this will connect you to the P330) and type 'show interface inband' (this will show you the IP address of the P330). Then you can use the web interface (needs Java plugin)

If the S8300/G700 is not administered you need a serial cable to connect to the console port of the G700. You can use any serial cable for Cajun switches, it will do.
From there assign an IP address and IP route to the P330, the MGP and the voip module, and then you can use the web interface.

More detailed decription on setting up S8300/G700 is in the documentation that comes with the system or at support.avaya.com

I hope this helps.

Thanks Petran!
Had some trouble with the password (could it be all so simple...) but I got in. Set the EXT1 port to disable auto negotiate, which made our hubs upset. Seems to work now! Thnx again!
