Hi, I have an old Duron 750MHz PC with an S3 Savage4 32MB AGP 2x Graphics Card. I've recently hooked up a TV that isn't needed anymore to it (it has a VGA input and a USB Hub) to get rid of the old CRT.

The panel supports up to 1280x768 (native), but I can only get it to run in 1024x768 - the next one up available in 1154x864. I cannot find monitor drivers for this LCD TV anywhere, so it's a "Plug and Play Monitor" right now. I've also tried installing the drivers for "Default Monitor" too, but I can't get access to 1280x768.

The graphics card has the latest (2000 lol) drivers too.

Is there any way I can get access to widescreen resolutions with this card and TV? Is it a problem with not having TV drivers or is it to do with the card?

My money's on the card. Drivers are probably not up to LCD spec. Vidcard drivers are more critical than monitor drivers. Even the cheapest $30 AGP vidcard today will do the job, and give that Duron a break:

lol, I have spent the last few days refurbishing this PC - it had a heatsink with a random fan on top that was "screwed" into the heatsink gaps and was making a lot of noise. I bought a £10 heatsink + fan rated for Athlon 3200+ (it runs at 24C now lol).

I don't wanna upgrade the PC as it's a waste of money to be honest - the board only has AGP 2x anyway. There is a main PC in the room (AthlonXP 3200+ with 1GB of RAM, etc...), this is just another one for the office in case the other is in use. The board CAN support up to an Athlon 1.4GHz or AthlonXP 1500+ (@ 200MHz FSB only), but these are rare even on eBay (I wouldn't mind getting one for like £3 or something).

I've been researching and it seems S3 cards don't allow custom resolutions :( Is there any custom video BIOS or something that anyone has made that will allow me to use 1280x768? It's a long shot, but may as well ask...
