What EXACTLY does this mean and how do you troubleshoot? I understand it means a polarity reversal or an open trunk but how do you fix it. We use BellSouth and have 36 Nortel switches (Option 11C) at different sites. It's driving us nuts. Thanks.

Yes, it's from a stat on our trunks and a reboot of the switch appears to clear it until the trunk is accessed again and it reverts back to RVSD.

Each of your connections to the trunks card should be checked for polarity then. With ground start trunks polarity can be an issue and on some loop start also. Either use your butt set or a multi meter to determine your polarity, if the polarity is reversed as your STAT shows then flip your jumper over to correct the polarity. I would also annotate in my trunk records that the polarity had to be reversed for future references.

Ok, I can do this at the dmarc. What I'm unsure of is why this spontaneously happens and is the problem coming from the switch or from the service provider?

service. bs does a cable through.. changing the cable count usually due plant expansion and either someone finds one turned over and fixes it or just makes a mistake... either way it means a site visit... i know a pri may be major over kill but with prices going down every month... might check those out for more of the sites
