Runtime error 438

I have the same macro in a number of templates in Word 2000.
The macro is AutoOpen and is copied over entirely.

In Some of these templates, when I open it, it gives an error message:
Runtime error 438
Object doesn't support this property or method.

The highlighted line is:
ActiveDocument.cbobxStatus.AddItem "Draft"

Which is relevant to a combo box I added in the front page using the Control Toolbox, and I populate it with AutoOpen.
Some of these templates which have exactly the same this, work properly, but some give this error
