I already have windows xp pro installed and have purchased a new version of windows server 2003 web edition, I have tried it in vmware and it works fine but I would like to install it as a standalone on the hard drive.

In essence dual boot so that when I start up the pc it gives me the option of selecting either windows xp or server.

Can someone tell me if thats possible or not and obviously how to do it.

I have a 200GB hard drive with 2 partitions, xp is one one of them so I just need server on the other.

Thanks

Lee

You should be able to boot to the Windows 2003 installation CDROM to run setup. Then simply choose the other partition as the install location. This will install 03 while preserving XP. It will also automatically edit your boot.ini file to present you with the OS choices when you boot up.

Of coarse, make sure you back-up your data first, just in case.
