Running to fatal error while try to install Ex 2003 Sp2 1

Hi,

Can you please tell me what is the solution of the following error?

yes the ms service was started and I stop and restart it as well, it existed, what is wrong?

If not the service itself, is it a serrch for something that failed? The only dependency in the release notes for Exchange SP2 is windows 2003 SP1 with KB898060 applied. What OS SPs and hotfixes are applied?

my server doesn't even have SP1 install, I am trying to install the SP2 directly, the previous perosn didn't apply the Sp1. I didn't find KB898060 install on the server too? do I need to install it?
Does this apply to me also?

If you are getting Dependency Manager: ***ERRORLOG EVENT*** :
CDependencyManager::ValidateDependencyStates() : The dependency of
Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services on Microsoft
Search is not satisfied.

Look under this key "HKEY_LOCAL_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Search\Install"
and if all you have is [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Search\Install]
"InstallPath"="C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\System\\MSSearch"

Then add the following :

Major Version: REG_DWORD: 0x9
Minor Version: REG_DWORD: 0x6b
Version: REG_SZ: 9.107.5512

I'm not sure where it came from, but it's telling you the problem is the reported version of MS Search. By editing the registry, you are simply lying to setup about what version of MS search is installed. The assumption is that this will get you past the error and setup wil continue.

SBS can be problematic like that at times. I remember when you had to do a similar thing in 2000 in order to upgrade Exchange to Enterprise.

my server is Standard exchange server running on windows 2003 sever, will the SBS registry apply to my standard exchange server as well?
