I have one SQL Server 2000 machine running both a public website and an the internal management website. There SQL server has 2 nics, I want to be able to connect to the server using both nics, one for public site and one for internal site.

It runs fine on the 1st nic, with the original IP, but I cannot sonenct to ti on the second nic, with the new IP. The second IP can be pinged and the machine is accessible, but I just cannot connect so SQL on it. Any help would be great.

Thanks!

SQL Server listens on the IP addresses that existed when the service started. Was the 2nd IP added after SQL Server was installed? If so has SQL Server been restarted? It must be restarted for SQL server to use the 2nd IP. Terry L. Broadbent

yes sql server has been restarted. in fact the entire machine was rebooted, and yet i cannot access it on the second IP. It's just a SQL issue as I can access the machine itself via either IP.

Try using the "Server Network Utility" to set it up, There is one set of server Net-Libraries for each set of database engine executable files, you may need to add the new IP address manualy to the TCP/IP protocol
