Running ASP on Windows XP

I have a laptop running Windows XP Home, which as most know didn't come with IIS or PWS so there's no joy running ASP.
I've seen and tried the popular 'workaround' to get IIS to run and haven't had any luck as I don't have a Win2k disk and so don't have access to the required files.

Upgrading to WinXP Pro wasn't an option at purchase, but I figured that WinXP Home should at least have the equivalent of PWS, how wrong I was...

So, what options are there to run ASP?
I'm open to any suggestions, either free versions (Apache kept bombing out on me, not sure what's going on there) or Commercial software if I have to, although I really don't have the ability to upgrade to XP Pro at the moment.

Are there any good ways to run ASP on the local machine? Are there any good Development Software titles that come with a personal Web Server installed with them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and the sooner the better as I have a project that needs my attention.

Also, I DO have a Win98 disk, and was wondering if anyone had had any luck installing the Win98 PWS onto XP Home?

Thanks in advance for any help or info anyone can give me.

Ok, tried the workaround where you modify the sysoc.inf and put the iis2.dll/iss2.inf and then goto add/remove menu components etc...

And low and behold, the option is there! However, when it starts to install it asks for a number of files of which I don't have, admxprox.dll being one of them.

Now, I may be able to access a win2k server disk, but I was wondering if anyone who has been through this has a list of the files the installation needs so I can compile them togther ready for installation...

Anyone have such a list?
So far I only have admxprox.dll, which is followed by convlog.exe, anyone know what else is needed?

Thanks in advance...

Ok, used the win2k server disk and it's not working... IIS is there, but localhost doesn't show anything. Tried adjusting the security as suggested, and still nothing...

Getting tired of the 'hack' approach, so does anyone have another sugestion? I have tried Apache/Chillisoft but if someone can walk me through an install I'd give it another go.

Or, from another approach, can someone recommend some development software that comes with it's own 'personal web server' to test development code out on?

Didn't want to upgrade to WinXP Pro as I'm really getting tired of Microsoft. But still have several projects to do which are now getting backed up...

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks in advance...
