Hi there, I have been given the task of writing an intranet site strictly for news purposes only. This site will run on old outdated PC's which will be located in canteens across our company. As such, the users will be general shop floor employees with no PC knowledge. My task is to ensure a complete lockdown of the PC so all it can do is view the intranet page. I was wondering if there are any applications or software which will esentially allow me to view the website only and nothing else. i.e. no windows shortcuts, program menus, ctrl, alt + del etc

Kind regards
John

you will need to use policies to tie down the securities that tightly.

Admin Tools -> Local Security

or use group policies in active directory

Not a task for the fainthearted though. Make sure you have an admin logon with no restrictions

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

You can lock down a particular user account.. put it in super-secure-guest-mode (tm) ;o) (this will take some work, but start with the guest account and group policies) - upon login, auto execute a script that runs IE automatically in kiosk mode:

You can also use IE as the default shell instead of windows explorer when a user logs in:

or you could just buy software that does most of this for you:

As BigShyBear mentioned, you can also do this with linux.

A smile is worth a thousand kind words. So smile, it's easy! :)
