We have a simple peer-to-peer network running Win98SE on five workstations. We run a "shop management" software from one of the workstations that acts as a server. We added a new workstation that is running Win2K, got it configured so it will share its printer, share files, can see all the other users, etc., with all the Win 98 workstations. I have a drive mapped to the shop management software onthe Win98 "server".
The Win2K machine runs the application fine (from the server) - AS LONG AS no other user is working in the application at the same time! When anyone else is using the application, the Win2K user gets an error message from the application that it can't find certain files or they are corrupted (however, the Win98 users are unaffected). Its as though the app isn't being shared properly to the Win2K machine.
I have tried all combinations of access, rights, and permissions settings on the Win2K machine that I can think of. There are not many sharing options on Win98 (I have the entire app shared with "full access"
. Any ideas? All of our workstations are part of a "workgroup" - would setting up a "domain" make any difference?
