Hi everyone,

I have 2 questions:

Is it possible to run 2 internal 56K modems on a system? The system is our NT server, if that's important.

If so, can they both be US Robotics 56K or does one have to be a different manufacturer or a different type of modem?

Please advise.

Thanks so much for your assistance.

Kind Regards,
Jay/UK

not a problem...just make sure you have 2 free com ports. You can have the same modems...makes no difference.

Hi,

That's what I thought.

But our engineer seemed unable to get the install on the 2nd US Robotics to work. Or even a second unbranded modem.

And he said he thought you couldn't have 2 internal modems on the same system in any event.

Any further comments?

Regards,
Jay/UK

I have heard of the problem with 2 modems of the same
brand and I have tried using 2 different ones. I had been
successful but I am not using them any longer.

Hi,

Thanks for your input.

I thought it should be possible to run 2 internal modems in the same system.

Yes, you can have multiple modems in the same system. You have COM1 and COM2 available by default. To go beyond that, you would need external modems with add on serial port cards.
