I had a user get infected with the sircam virus. The rundll32.exe file was bad (along with the version that the virus renames).

I replaced the file with a copy from the original cd. Now, during boot, I get the error that the rundll32.exe file caused a page fault in rundll32.exe.......

Windows 98 SE, compaq armada laptop

Any ideas? I'd hate to reinstall the OS just for one file that's gone goofy.....

Did you run the sircam fix?
And you could always install the O.S over the one you have now and retain all of your Documents and programes
takes about 40 mins
you need to copy your win98 files to the hard drive first on the OS cd directory called win98 this is all you need for the install

good luck

Woo hoo, figured it out.

There was another version of rundll32.exe in the windows\system folder. When the system booted, it used that that file, which caused the page fault.

Thanks for the advice!
