I recently had the hompage Hijacker virus. I was using a new antivirus program. The inital scan of this program (AVAST) scans windows in the middle of startup. The program found a virus (Homepage Hijacker) in My windows files and automatically deleted it before I could stop it. Now I THINK I am missing the RUNDLL/3/LBXStime.dll componet. When I start Windows xp pro up now. I get a RUNDLL error loading /3/LBXStime.dll module could not be found message. Can anyone help me rectify this problem.

LBXStime.dll, is that part of some program you run (doesn't appear to be a standard windows dll), or part of some virus or spyware that was missed when Avast did its deletion.

Being a Dll file it may well have been caught by System Restore before any deletion. So you may be able to restore it that way if you want it.

You could check your startup (Run) registry entries to see what is causing it to try and load at startup.

Went into msconfig and shut down all of the start up applications. rebooted computer and still rundll error. There was absolutely nothing runing in taskbar applications. Could it be a trace dll from an old program that would operate at start up on its own?

I have checked the dll library for windows xp and could not find the module /3/LXBStime.dll listed for windows xp but darn if I know what other program would be requesting this dll on start up.

What do you think reformat and start from scratch to get rid of this junk.

My wonderful kids have downloaded some programs from the internet that they deleted instead of uninstalled (lovely children arent they)and have probably left a big mess behind in the system registry.

Just fed up and want this thing to work. My 5 year old is severely disabled and relys on this computer on a daily basis and I have been at this problem for a week now.

Reformat would of course work but it might be a case of throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Try these first.

Search your Registry for any mention of LXBStime.dll

HKLM\..\Run: [LXBSCATS] rundll32 C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\3\LXBStime.dll,_RunDLLEntry@16

Found reference to this. Can anyone explain what this is? I guess you could back up the registry and delete the entry to see what happens! Last gasp before re-formatting.

Reinstall the drivers for your printer. Lexmark printer perhaps?
