Is there a way to have run-time spell-checking, eg when the user is entering text into a Text Box, in VB6?

Thanks, gurus!

If they have WORD installed, you can use it's spellcheck function. robdog888 wrote something on vbforums.com

Thanks. How can I find robdog888's post in vbforums.com?

You could try the same as we would - google for "site:vbforums.com spellcheck robdog888"

OK - found this. Works well.

Guru indeed. Merci mille fois!!!

On closer testing, the spell check method of robdog888 is not as robust as I'd hoped.

Does anyone have any other VB6 spell-check methods?

Thanks

This just in!

I have found that it is critical to the reliable operation of the spell checker that the CheckGrammarWithSpelling option is set False.

Otherwise, the spell checker opens with the Check Grammar box checked, and it then crashes if the Ignore Once, Ignore All or Cancel Buttons are used.

Why this is, I leave to robdog888 or others of his stature to explain.

Did you try strongm's link to the MS article?

You should also check out faq222-2244, especially para 16, as I notice that although you have asked nearly 50 questions spread over 7 years, you have rarely posted answers to anyone else's questions.

Thanks johnwm. I had missed strongm's link. The MS solution is essentially the same as the one devised by robdog888, although he has tweaked theirs and the result is prettier.

I hear what you are saying about getting back more than I give. I will _try_ to be a better citizen.
