I'm trying to move towards automation of a few things on my current database. One of the things I'd like to do is run macros in my database from an outside source. I have a macro called UpdateWeb that I want to run every night. I figure if I make a new database and send commands to my database, that would work the best. So basically, I want to run UpdateWeb on my current database by sending a command to run it from another database.

Is this possible? How do I do it?

Thanks,
Dana

Dana,
Have you tried something as simple as copying the macro from DB 1 and pasting it into macros under DB 2 ... then just running it from there in the startup? ... If you want to run it everytime you start it... save the macro as autoexec ... this will run it at startup always...

Also when at the macros screen view (to select macros) you can just right click and chose import.. .chose the source DB, DB 1 ... and then pick the macros you want to import... I've never tried to link macros in DB's ... not sure if you can or if you could I'm not sure if it would be practical. Sharing queries and tables (data sources) is practical. Most of the time macros just perform funcitons and will work just as well if you just copy/paste or import them into the new DB. I hope this has helped.. Goodluck

No, what I want to do is send a command from one database to execute the macro on the other database.

Any ideas?
