RPC service seems to hang on SMS servers

I thought I'd throw this question out. I have two NT 4.0 SP5 servers in my environment. Both are running SMS 2.0 (Sp2) and SQL 7.0 (sp1) Every 3-12 days, the RPC service seems to hang on both these server (not neccesarly at the same time.). CPU and Memory utilization is very low (1-5% utilized)during the RPC hang. The only way to resolve the problem is for a hard reboot.

Any Ideas?

I am having this same problem. I am running NT 4.0 SP5
with SQL 7.0. What was the hot fix? Has it corrected the problem

Yes,

The HotFix solved my problem. I wound up that because I use two Compaq NIC cards and have NIC TEAMING enabled, a problem with NDIS.SYS would occur.

The work around is to disable teaming.

The solution is to implement a hotfix. Here is the technet article that will provide more information:
