Hi you all,
This is hard for me.
I am searching forum without success or not at the right places, so maybe there's an thread all ready posted.
if someone can give me a link or solution that would be nice.
I am prepairing for some network exams and trying to setup a test network.
I have a server, three workstations, an external broadband router for internet access.
The server(server01) is configured with a static IP (192.168.2.95).
The router is the dhcp server(192.168.2.1),
so the workstations get there ip from the router(range: 192.168.2.100 - 192.168.2.110/ dns: 192.168.2.1).
All the workstations(wst01,wst02,wst03) have internet access (dns is ip of the router: 192.168.2.1).
Maybe you can see my problem allready:
when I tried to logon a workstation, it takes a while before the workstation is ready.
If I want to ping the server(server01), I am getting a reply form the following ip-address: 64.40.102.44.
No good at all.
If I use the IP instead I getting the reply from the server.
It seems that I forgot something.
In the eventviewer I noticed that the RPC-server is not available:.
After some research I found out that it had to do with DNS configuration on the server.
I tried to solve the problem with a hostfile and I thought I had solved the issue but, but....
if I want to work with dynamic ip-addressing (DHCP), I don't think that a hostfile can of use.
So what I need, is how can I solve the RPC-server is not available problem?
please if there is an already an thread, please can someone point me to that thread.
Or if someone can tell me what I need to do next!!
Thanks
