RPC-HTTPS Not working after install/removal of sharepoint

Hi all,


I made the mistake of installing SPS on a wnindows/exchange 2003 box...I know before you say it! Have removed it, OWA and active sync now working as set auth back to negotiate,ntlm but rpc over https no no longer works. Have set to basic auth only in IIS users get the follwoing error in outlook:

Task 'Microsoft Exchange Server' reported error (0x80040115) : 'The connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.'
Task 'Microsoft Exchange Server - Sending' reported error (0x80040115) : 'The connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.'

Nothing showing on event log on server, any ideas?

Forgot to point out that if I go to

https://mail.ourmailserver.com/rpc

I get no prompts at all for user name just get a service unavailable page
