Hi,

I run one front-end exchange server that handles mail for around eight different SMTP domains.

*@xxxxxx.com
*@yyyyyy.com
*@zzzzzz.com

etc.

Is it possible to route outbound mail via different relay servers according to the senders default smtp address.

Say I have a user who is sending mail and his default smtp address is user@xxxxxx.com I would like to route their mail via a remote filtering service, so the mail will need to be relayed to a specific relay server.

However I have another user on the same server whos default address is user@yyyyyy.com, their mail doesnt need to go via this filtering service so can be sent straight out via the ISP's usual email relay server.

Does that make sense?

TIA guys

you need to set up multiple SMTP connectors.
define the SMTP address space for each one and the smarthost.
make sure you give each one a lower cost than your default route.

Thanks for the reply Neill, as far as I can make out tho, that only works if the domains in the address space are being "sent to".

In this scenario, I need to route to anywhere "*", depending on "sent from" addresss.

My apologies, I wasn't reading your post properly.
I was playing with an iPod Touch and it's not the best for this sort of thing.
Will have a think about it.
