I have a windows 2000 server with two network cards. On NIC is connected to a static network connected to a cisco 1720 router for internet. On this router i have NAT running with a public to private translation for the ip on the first NIC. The NAT is working fine. I can ping the public ip from outside the network and i can VPN into the server. On the second NIC i have DHCP running for the second network. The DHCP is running fine and i am leasing ip to machines. The problem is that when i vpn into the server and try to get over to the second network i cant. Is there something i am missing or havent done. Any suggestions would be greatly appcieated.

Yes, when you vpn into the server from the internet, you need to supply an ip address to the vpn that is in the range of your private subnet. Also, there are settings on the vpn server that allow only access to the server and not the rest of the network. Since you have DHCP running on the server doing the vpn, you should set up the addresses in RRAS to hand out ip's in your private range for the vpn's and not attempt a DHCP proxy for the vpn (DHCP proxy doesn't work right on the same computer running DHCP).

Thats my next problem. Everytime i try to go into the RRAS properties it tells me that i dont have permissions to look at it. I am signed on as adminsitrator but i still cant into it to change the settings.
