I currently have a Cisco 3640 w/ IOS 12.2 with one Hssi interface and I am using one of the fast ethernet interfaces. This router is my connection to a private routed network that connects me to 51 remote locations (soon to be 53) via a partial DS3 (12.3 Mbps currently and potentially doubling that in July). This router is being taxed at times, so I am looking to replace it. What new hardware should I be looking at? I may want to get two new routers and build some load balancing into the solution going forward.[morning]

The 3825 can do line rate up to 1/2 of a DS3, so perhaps that would be a good choice. The ISRs are sweet routers. If you think you'll ever need to push the DS3 up to full line rate then you'll need to consider the 3845.

If you're looking at older equipment then you could get a 3660. That will handle a single DS3, as well.
