Hi,

I have an Exchange 2000 server that keeps queueing messages in the SMTP connector. After several reboots and other assorted stuff to get messages sent (without success), I decided to reboot the router (a CISCO 801). After this, my messages have now been sent.

This has happaned a few times in the past month. NOw it is happening more frequently..last Friday, and yesterday and now two times today.

Anyone else experienced anything like this?

i suppose u have no access lists configured to match TCP traffic, but just check nontheless..

also, u may need to upgrade your IOS version..

good luck..

If you are using a SMTP filter such as Surf Control I have seen this happen... what you need to do is reconfigure the filter to allow for SMTP traffic to flow through the port on the server and then change the port on the router.

Thanks for replies.

I'm not running any filters of any kind. One day everything is all OK. On some ocassions, I start to see a build up of message on the Exchange server which seem to clear after I reboot and run CISCO FAst Step setup programme.
Once this is done, everything seems OK....mail goes out and mail comes in. I just have to check the server regularly to make sure.

You are right though, I have not upgraded the IOS....any advice on how to do this?

Ignore last request for instructions on IOS upgrade. Just downloaded info from CISCO.
