I am learning Cisco and have just purchased a used Catalyst 2924 off ebay for my home lab. I am looking for a Cisco router to replace my Linksys that has the same functionality (port forwarding, DMZ..etc) to share my Internet connection from my cable modem. Does anyone have any recommendations?

2514, 2611, 2621 would be the cheapest listed in order and have the dual ethernet/fast ethernet functions that you'll need for your home set-up.

IPKONFIG,

Thanks for the response. I just took a look at a 2514. It only has one RJ-45 ethernet port. I would need two ports for my home network setup. One port for the connection to the cable modem and the other to the switch (or whatever). Can another RJ-45 port be added somehow?

The 2514 has 1 Async Serial, 2 AUI interfaces, 1 RJ-45 Console port and 1 RJ-45 AUX port. The 2 AUI interfaces would need trancievers ($5 apiece) and that is your 2 ethernet interfaces.
