I am have a wireless router WRT54G connected to a LAN. 4 computers connect wireless (3xp and 1 vista). We also have 6 computers hooked up through a hub.

The two issues I am having.

1. The laptop with vista can connect to other computers on the network but not the internet. But the icon in the system tray shows the globe. (All other computers can connect to the internet). This computer about 2 weeks ago has had not issues. Last few weeks have been having to try disconnect and connect and will eventually connect.
also when i do ipconfig /release it says it needs to be evaluated? not sure what that means either.

2. When I try to use 192.168.1.1 to access the router from the computers that are not wireless the connection either times out or looks like only a partial display

any ideas.

Is this machine at SP1? There were several similar wireless network problems that were resolved in Vista SP1.

I had the same issue with my wife's new notebook with Vista. Look for a setting that tells the machine you are in a trusted network. For some reason, MS decided to hide this setting and it gives me fits every time I set up a machine with Vista. Reply if you have trouble finding the switch and I'll look for it on her machine tonight. Good luck.

Sorry It has taken me a few days to post back.

The computer is using SP1. I have to check about the trusted network.

I will post back.
