Does anyone know if it is possible to make a manual isdn data call from a cisco.I know you can make a test call.I use the isdn for backup of our wan interface etc, but there are occasions when we need to put the link on isdn backup.I can get around it by pulling out the wan cable but this is not always practical.

You can make manual isdn calls but the way it routes will depend on what way you have setup the backup interface.

If you are using floating static routes using the administrative distance of these routes to determine which interface (BRI or serial) to route through, making a manual call won't change the routing.

The simplest way is to administratively shutdown the serial interface - this will bring up the isdn backup interface and change the routing through it.

FYI - The command for a manual call is
isdn call interface interfacenumber dialerstring
