Im pretty new at this router stuff. Im setting up a network, I have 8 pc's, 2 linux, 3 servers, 2 professional, and one xp. I also have one cisco router (2514) I have no idea how to setup the network. I have set up the network before only with a netgear 8-port hub. Now i want to use the cisco router. Where do I even begin?? Will I still need the hub?? what cables would i need (I have a serial cable for the cisco router). anyone???

Are you intending to use the router to connect to an ISP or other network? If not, then you shouldn't need a router just to network those PCs together (unless you plan on making several subnets out of it, which seems unneccessary for such a small network).

well to use the router you really need to havea need to "route"
a simple lan is only going to use layer 2 as it is all switching.
you could split your lab into two groups and give them seperate networks and use 1 of the 2514 ethernet ports for each network...
you will of course need a switch or hub on both sides to collect the pcs though.
