Background:
I host many domains with my Exchange 5.5 server. Currently, I have explicit email addresses mapping to POP3 mailboxes. Some mailboxes have multiple listings including addresses from many domains. This is all fine and easy to configure.

However, I now need to add a new domain that will have one new mailbox (did that, also easy).

ISSUE:
I do not want to explicitly create email addresses for the mailbox. I want to create the new mailbox and basically have a wildcard email address for the domain to receive everything sent to the domain.

So, when you send a message to JustGuessing@domain.com it will end up in the new mailbox. I tried adding the following email addresses to the mailbox: *@domain.com and #@domain.com That did not work, but you should see what I am thinking.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

**EXTRAT STUFF TO CONSIDER, BUT FOCUS ON ABOVE**
I have seen some talk about using DNS to route all domain mail to an email address, but that did not seem to work. I am using Microsoft DNS and the MX record only allows me to specify a host not an email address. When I add an address the sending server says:
Host unknown (Name server: address\@domain.com.: host not found)
No the “\” is not in the listing on the DNS server. The mail server line says “address@domain.com”

Within Exchange Administrator, go to the Internet Mail Service, which will be under Site > Configuration > Connections > Internet Mail Service. Change the Administrator’s Mailbox to the mailbox you want all mail to go to and set the Notifications. Finally create a mail service from within Outlook to check the mail. Voila!

Hope this helps.

I do not want to use the Administrators account. I want to create a new account. I may need to do this for miltiple domains to different mailboxes.

Any way to do this with a new account?

Not sure you can to be honest. Let me have a nose around and I'll see if I can figure something out... :)
