Hi Everybody

I'm currently changing my backupinfrastructure to a 58Slot library with 4 LTO Drives in order to backup about 50 Servers. But I'm a bit confused with the rotation scheme options BAB r11.1 gives you.

The manual states, that it supports GFS to File System Devices. Does that mean you'll have to backup first to files an those then to tape afterwards? The manual doesn't make clear backing up directly to tape with GFS.

When I'd use a custom rotation scheme without GFS, as seems to be most commonly used because of flexibility stated in this forum, I'm again riddled how to implement generations (GFS) because you're only able the choose one mediapool for all kinds of backup types in the rotation. Like that you cannot define different retention times for daily, weekly and monthly backups.

Can somebody help me with the concepts?

TIA
Lyndon

To use FSD (File System Device) as the target you have to create as many FSDs as you would need if the job was using tape.

Version 11.5 supports disk staging. Backup to FSD and then it is later moved to tape.

If you want GFS then you have to use GFS and not Rotation.
