root login not possible 1

hi
i just installed mdk 9.1 on my computer and can't login as root directly, the only way is to login as another user and su to get root privileges
could it be because i choosed the security level "higher"?
where can i set that root can login when being at the computer itself but not remotly?

It could be because you set security to 'higher'. Those security settings do some slightly unexpected things. At some settings, you will find that you can't even reboot the machine. Unfortunately, I don't know exactly where to look to specifically allow root console login while retaining the other security settings.

"security level 'higher'" sounds like a Firewall setting to me. I doubt this is the problem, but if it is, look into your firewall settings in system tools->security... It should prompt for Root password.

Did you set up a root password during installation? You can wipe out the root password by editing your /etc/shadow file and make a new one if you have forgotten it.

you should have a file called or similar to
/etc/ssh/sshd_config

in there there is an option for permit_root_login you have it set to no, change the to yes and you can log in as root.
