Appreciate your help with the following, and patience with the volume of words to follow... :)

My problem relates to the topic in the Fireworks Help called "creating rollover with overlapping slices" which I cannot get to work after days of trying....

Briefly I have several text words all at say 45 degrees to the horizontal and placed one above the other fairly closely.

I want to have these as simple rollovers - with or without images - they can just be a text field that changes colour or a graphic that changes - the principal problem is the same I think.

The Problem...
When you pass the mouse cursor over the top of one of the text field objects, the "rectangle" defined area of the other text field objects overlays it causing it to only partially display - even though I have a polygon green area around the text word and am using different frames as per instructions. .

The issue is that even if I use the Polygon slice and have these text fields on a different frame - Insert > Frame - I still get the problem.

I can send an example if this does not make sense. But if you try and arrange say 3 text lines at 45degrees each one immediately above the other and pretty closely, and try to add a rollover effect you should see what I mean.

Point being....
The Help under the heading "create a rollover with overlapping slices" is supposed to detail how to get around this - but it doesn't seem to work.

Either I am doing something very simply wrong or it does not work - I am hoping it is the former and you can guide me on this please.

thanks in advance

Oh one more thing - another question actually - In Dreamweaver I would create frames in the true sense of the word (Frameset etc.) Can you specify that in Fireworks so that you can actually create frames (real frames) in fireworks so that when you export you can actually have code that creates frames which are interpreted in say Dreamweaver. Or do you need to add this later after you have exported from Fireworks. Can't seem to find any info
on this.

thanks again for your help and apologies for the lengthy read :)

Hi Garth,

Been thinking about this situation of yours and have come across an idea...should have thought of it earlier actually...

I think you can draw a irregular shaped hotspot and attach a behaviour to it... I could demonstrate it if I had Fireworks here but unfortunately I am at work.

You will see the button on the toolbar that allows you to draw a hotspot of any shape using a series of lines made with the mouse. Draw them over the 45 degree text and make sure they do not touch or overlap and it should work.

Let me know if it does not work and I will try to get you some better details.

I just read your post again and you mention that you in fact did try the polygon slice and it did not work...let me mess around with it some more and I will let you know what I find out. Ya' Gotta Love It!
