Rollover effect doesn't work in IE

I know somebody must have asked this question already but I can't find it posted.
When I create a rollover button, the effect on mouseover works in Netscape but not in IE. What do I need to add to my javascript to get it to work in most browsers?
I am using Dreamweaver MX on PC.
