Hi,

I am backing up every partition on a W2K server by using Robocopy to an external USB HDD attached to another machine (a W2003 server). This work brilliantly from a script which logs problems etc.

However robocopy won't copy open files, and there are lots of these especially on the C: partition, obviously.

Is anyone aware of a robocopy "add on" that will allow it to copy open files?

thanks
Rob (ocopy)

There is no addon of any kind for robocopy. But you shouldn't be using that to backup your C: drive. Robocopy cannot backup the system state or other crucial data that would be required to backup your server. I would strongly advise the use the built in backup tool to do your backups, AT LEAST for the C: drive.

Yeah fair point - I am just copying each partition directly to the USB drive, I realise I can't restore C: from this....
