I want to setup roaming profiles for my users, but when testing them i noticed that logging in and out takes along time. This is mainly when a user uses a new machine and thier files are downloaded to the pc.

Is it possible to setup roaming profiles but have thier documents and files in thier home directory, so there files are only stored on the server and are accessed over the network. I think this would help with logon times.

Is something like this possible and is it a bad idea.

yes it is. redirection of folders is the gpo settings you need to read about. it has been covered lot in the past 2 months in this lobby hope this helps you

it is a bad idea to use roaming profiles for all users

make sure to weigh the good against the bad..and it will always be slower than local logon so dont expect miracles
