We have a Win2000 AD Server with about 40 workstations, mixed Win2000 and WinXP, with roaming profiles. We've suddenly started having problems with some of the profiles not logging off properly when users log off or shut down their computers.
The symptoms are -
When trying to log on the users don't get their profiles loaded from the server.
If I try to copy the information in the local copy of the profile, I get an error message that some of the files are in use.
When looking at the User Profiles in Control Panel/System, the option to delete the offending profile is greyed out.
I suspect that some users are not logging off properly before logging on to another computer, but in at least one case, the profile with the problem belongs to someone who only uses that profile on one computer.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
